This is not the first time that Kaan Zamaan Gallery has worked with artists to raise funds for worthwhile causes. In the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake, owner Julia Reinholt and the other artists involved raised NZ$21, 000 to help relief efforts in the crippled city.
In October 2014, Kaan Zamaan Gallery in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands hosted a fundraiser exhibition following the Israeli bombardment of Gaza. Titled WE CARE, the exhibition had works generously donated by artists including Palestinian photographer Hamde Abu Rahma, Scott McFarlane, Lee Brogan, Chris Booth, Chris Reid, Herb Foley, Frank Habicht, Fran Leitch, Bill Snider, Julia Reinholt, and Richard Adams. The exhibition managed to raise NZ$12,000 for Kia Ora Gaza's replacement Ambulance Appeal and for Save The Children.
